Even if I didn't know too much about Proview's monitors, more than seven years ago, I decided to buy a CRT monitor. This was a great decision for me, as I'm more interested in keeping my electronic devices for as much as possible, than changing them with every new model that comes up. So, I would like to express my gratitude for my Proview monitor that, even if being an old model, it has been a faithful friend for me all these years.
I must say that when I bought it, I only thought to get something cheap that could do its job without too much fuss. And I got it. I think I've changed more than four desktops in all these years, but never my Proview monitor. Even if in those last years the technologies for watching movies and other type of visual formats have changed numerous times, this monitor has always been able to offer an acceptable quality image. The most unbelievable fact about this is that my monitor never needed something changed, never showed any liability. I would never think that, since I have some newer models, LCD types, but from other brands, that offer a poorer quality than the CRT. This monitor is big, very uncomfortable for these times, but if I'm going to change it, I'll choose a Proview monitor for sure. Other brands, even more expensive and famous, did not offer me the same reliability as Proview did.
I want to share an experience I've had with this product that changed my way of thinking about cheaper models. Someday, three years ago, I was determined to buy a new monitor, wider and more modern, in order to improve the quality in which I could watch movies and play games. So, I asked my friend, who is an IT specialist, to bring me a new LCD model, of a very good brand, with a bigger diagonal and contrast. I restrained myself, in the last moment, to throw away the old Preview monitor and I just stored it away. My new model was everything I could have wanted. The image was bright, wide and of great quality. For several months, everything was great, until one day, when I got a power surge, rather frequent in my neighborhood, and when I tried to open the computer...no image. I opened and shut down the monitor several times, but no luck. It was dead. I took it to my friend and he told me it had been fried.
So, I had to take out the old Proview monitor and reinstall it. Since this incident and after it, I had many power surges like this one, but my old model never failed me.
