We watched the Secretariat tonight. It was a very heartwarming story. The movie is based on a true story. It's about a precocious thoroughbred horse called Secretariat also called Big Red.Secretariat won the Super Crown Classic in 1973.Big Red had 11 wins in 7 months. And the horse also loved the attention. And also sired over 600 foals.
Secretariat also won horse of the year at age 2. And was owned by Penny (Chenery) Tweedy played by Diane Lane..The trainer Lucien Laurin was played by John Malcovich. Scott Glenn played Penny's father. Following her mother's death,Penny went back and forth between her and her fathers house. Trying to take care of both houses.
She was constantly being told to sell the horse, but she wouldn't give in,because she believed in the horse. This is a very muscular horse. It is said that he stood 66 inches high and weighed 1175 lbs.In one race he the lead by 8 horses and 5 lengths. And in another race won by 8 lengths. I watched one of the actual races on You Tube,it was incredible. I'm not into horse racing, but this was really awesome.
